|
|
Wanted: Families willing to accept a student from another country into your home for several months.
Qualifications: Rotarian and non-Rotarian families are welcome to apply. Willingness to share a safe and secure home environment for an exceptional young man or woman; patience as the hosted student learns our language and other cultural differences; all family configurations (traditional, blended, "empty nesters," single parent, etc.) are acceptable, but best results occur when there is at least one host sibling of similar age in the household; all adults in the household - including children over 18 years of age - must pass a background check, as required by Rotary International and the US State Department.
Responsibilities: To accept the exchange student as a new member of your family. The student will be governed not only by the rules of the program but also by the rules of your household. You are responsible for the safety of the exchange student the same as for your own children.
Compensation: A family (yours) that will extend to another country. The opportunity to learn about other cultures and to share the American/Floridian/Jacksonville culture with a bright, talented future leader.
Application process: download Application Form. Once you have completed and signed the application, please deliver to Allen Skinner or other member of the International Youth committee of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville. Interview and home visit to follow.
